Plants The 2023 Installment

Note all images below are stock images.  Plants will be in plain plastic pots so if you want something fancy that is a good excuse for a trip to a plant store or Home Depot

African Violets: For more info see https://www.almanac.com/plant/african-violets.

Currently working on these, don't have any spare now:(

Aloe: No blooms.  Really easy to care (only really issue is overwatering):  Currently have plenty to spare.

Amaryllis: Hippeastrum: Have 2 haven't figured out propagation yet.  For more info see https://extension.umn.edu/houseplants/amaryllis.
Cape Primrose:
This is a really neat plant was going great then got overwatered then underwatered and now it is struggling.

Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera x buckleyi ): Pink Blooms (early winter - early spring) Stupid easy to care for (almost un-killable) very easy to propagate.  I now have: pink, white, and red so that was one 2022 plant goal achieved.

More details at How to Grow and Care for Holiday Cactus (Christmas Cactus) (thespruce.com)

Coleus:  Probably Wizard Scarlet.  See Coleus Varieties: 35 Different Types of Coleus Cultivars (allaboutgardening.com).

Dumb Cane (Dieffenbachia Compacta).  No blooms of interest.  Stupid easy to care for.

See Dieffenbachia (Dumb Cane): Plant Care & Growing Guide (thespruce.com)

Dragon Plant (Dracaena deremensis 'Rikki'). Easy to grow will get as big as you let it.  For more info see http://mooreparkplantscapes.ca/dracaena-rikki-plant-of-the-month/.

Elephant Ears: Alocasia: Killed it, got underwatered :(  For more info see https://www.thespruce.com/grow-alocasia-indoors-1902735

Forsythia (easy to grow outside, I guess you could grow it inside).  Striking blooms in spring, not much to look at the rest of the year.

Graptoveria Porcelain Plant: Killed it.  See https://www.thespruce.com/grow-alocasia-indoors-1902735.

Haworthiopsis Tortuosa: Don't have this, I'd be happy if someone has extras. Haworthiopsis tortuosa f. variegata | World of Succulents.

Kalanchoe(Kalanchoe blossfeldiana): Stupid easy to care for (almost un-killable).    Very easy to propagate.  Currently I have this in yellow(lots), pink, red, and orange. There are also white and purple varieties but mine many not have made it. For more info Kalanchoe: Indoor Plant Care & Growing Guide (thespruce.com)

Kalanchoe marnieriana (Bryophyllum marnierianum)
Blue leaves, none to spare for now, no pictures currently. For more info see Kalanchoe marnieriana (Marnier's Kalanchoe) (gardenia.net).

Kenilworth Ivy (Cymbalaria muralis): Interesting little bloom. Can grow inside or outside.  Easy inside or out. However, it can be messy inside (lots of growth and subject to dying back and dropping leaves). Very easy to propagate.  Outside plants are subject to crashing so having multiple plants going is a good idea. For more info see Plant Profile for Cymbalaria muralis - Kenilworth Ivy Perennial (perennials.com).

Luck Bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana).  Relatively easy but it can suffer from chlorinated water.  A de-chlorinator or access to water from a fish tank can help.
Note the spiral in the image takes effort that's not how it grows naturally.  You often see this growing in a vase with water an pebbles, which also works for a time.

see https://www.thespruce.com/growing-lucky-bamboo-1902994 or https://www.ourhouseplants.com/plants/lucky-bamboo-dracaena-sanderiana.
This year I added the variegated variety

Lamium Purple Dragon: Easy indoor or out.

Nerve Plant (Fittiona) got this stabilized and am starting to try and propagate, very slow grower (at least for me)

Polka Dot Plant (Hypoestes): Have this stable haven't really figured out the pruning routine to keep it compact but I'm getting close.

Prayer Plant(Maranta leuconeura): Moderate difficulty doesn't like to dry out, but can die from overwatering.  Also tends to get leggy and need to be cut back.

Rubber Tree(Ficus elastica) -- (probably decora)
This one is easy and will grow as large as you let it.  For more info see Burgundy Rubber Plant Care (gardenguides.com).

Snake Plant: Very easy. No blooms of interest.  Could propagate some if there was interest. See https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/dracaena-trifasciata/.

Spider Plant(Chlorophytum comosum): Very easy.  No blooms of interest. For more info see Learn About The Care Of Spider Plants (gardeningknowhow.com)
Tradescantia zebrina: Reasonably easy but doesn't like being overwatered.  Left to it's own devices gets leggy so requires pruning. (Have plenty)

Also added this year Tradescantia fluminensis tricolour.  Note this is NOT the trendy Nanouk variety though the colors a very similar.

Waffle Plant (Hemigraphis alternata)
